Working with customs-related issues
Effective customs handling is essential for saving time, effort and money, three vital ingredients for capital rationalization in Supply Chain Management.
Bonded warehouse
An importing company can, within a short timeframe, improve its cash flow while reducing its capital costs by applying for bonded warehouse. For example, you can delay paying customs duties and VAT on goods imported from third-party states until delivering the goods.
Adding product value
Similarly, you can boost cash flow and cut capital costs through having custom permission to enhance the value of a product through further work on it, before paying customs duties and VAT. This permission can be applied for products that later will be exported to a third party-state, which means you do not need to pay customs duties and VAT until you deliver the product to your customer.
AEO certification
Authorised Economic Operator, AEO, is a joint EU certification programme designed to increase worldwide security and harmonise the customs-related operations within the EU and make them simpler and more efficient. AEO status is valid in all EU Member States, and every business forming part of the international supply chain can become AEO-certified. Certified companies are prioritized in customs.
UnitedLog is AEO-certified and has worked closely with customs and excise in smoothing the path of goods over many years, primarily through simplifying regulation, making processes easier to follow for importers and exporters, and providing 4PL services like transport and customs clearance.
In Sweden, UnitedLog participated in developing a national certification program, together with the customs department and other industry leaders, in order to speed up the passage of goods through customs.
