Introduction
Finding the opportunities

In times like these, many of us feel an urge pull the breaks, to get a chance to find a way to control the situation. Some things are beyond control, but other things are not, and that is where we can make a difference. The world is still full of opportunities; we just have to find them. One way to do so is learning from others, and my goal is that you pick up something new in this newsletter.

Before I go more into what is in the articles, I would like to make an announcement. We now have an even wider service offering for UnitedLog Consulting. We have acquired a company called FIND, with expertise in Operational Finance Consulting.

In practice this means that we can help our customers with the financial angle of Working Capital Reduction, in addition to the Supply Chain view we already have today. They also bring us expertise in financial control, due diligence and assessment, profit analysis and more. We see very strong synergies between our current offering and what FIND brings. Now back to the articles. This time we share our knowledge of Control Tower solutions with you.

An efficient supply chain is important for any business, and to achieve it there is a need for control, flexibility and added value in a that order. The strength of the Control Tower is that it helps fulfilling all three needs, resulting in reduced costs, increased visibility and satisfied customers. Here is your chance to learn more on this topic.

For companies that provide products and services across country borders, customs is an important issue, with a lot of rules and regulations involved.  Actors specialized in customs service can facilitate the process, help reduce tax and VAT and improve cash flow. Not everybody sees an obvious connection between customs handling and working capital rationalization, but it is there and it is important.

Effective customs handling helps save time, effort and money. Now you can find out more about the tools. As we all know, it is not easy to keep up with the business cycle fluctuations. Things change fast and a decision made three months ago may be ancient history today. Capacity planning is a good way of handling fluctuations, but it is simpler in theory than in practice. Luckily there are ways to succeed and we share our knowledge in these matters with you.

Take some time to read the articles in this newsletter, and if you want more inspiration make sure you order our new yearbook Overcoming the obstacles. This may just help you find the inspiration you need to go out there and face the world head on.

Set your mind on finding the opportunities and make sure to make the most of them.

Enjoy!
