Introduction
Current affairs - Introduction to December's newsletter

For me it is nice to see that the Sandvik SMC Logistics DCIX Control Tower we are involved with is now bearing much good fruit. It has provided us with many interesting challenges over the past two years but the resulting benefits have made all our efforts worthwhile. You can enjoy the full story inside.

It’s obvious to all that we’re fighting the headwind of a troubling recession. And the most important thing is to help our customers ride out the storm. Two ways of achieving this is via a 4PL agreement and boosting cash supply.

Merry ChristmasA 4PL agreement is a rewarding solution to cost-cutting in transport and logistics. Boosting cash supply is possible through our expertise in working capital rationalization and cash management that can release tied-up capital.

While talking about the economy, I understand that Swedish buyers need to be better at offsetting the currency exchange loss caused by the Chinese renmimbi appreciating strongly against the Swedish krona. Naturally, I think that one excellent solution is to take advantage of the tools we already provide for achieving this!

If you want to keep abreast of the latest trends and developments within logistics, I recommend that you attend the 24th Logistics Seminar taking place in Finland in early February and jointly sponsored by Establish and LOGY.

Leading experts from industry, academia and government will give the talks spread over two days at the Finlandia Hall in Helsinki and on the MS Baltic Princess. On the ship, seminar participants can go ashore in Tallinn, Estland, before returning later to Helsinki.

With the end of the year approaching, I’m glad to say that this year the traditional Christmas gift from United Logistics Group will go to Médecins Sans Frontières.

I wish you all a very enjoyable festive season and happy New Year celebrations in preparation for an exciting 2009!
